In the 22nd minute Roger Pil shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sabahattin Erten saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Haymakers FC's Robin Olsen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rolando Bela in the 27th minute of play. Sabahattin Erten showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jim Håkansson, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Sabahattin Erten showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jim Håkansson in the 58th minute of the match. 61 minutes had been played when some careless play by United's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Despite this Sabahattin Erten quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. After a defensive mix-up in Haymakers FC's zone, Florencio Oihan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Robin Olsen came out of the goal and Florencio Oihan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. United's Zlatan Gigant was substituted for Florencio Oihan. United's Sabahattin Erten played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sven-Olof Mogren in the 78th minute of play.
