After 5 minutes, Wágner Urbano mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Jardim América FC and the S.E.R. Caxias do Sul players grew even worse after the yellow card. After having played for 6 minutes, Leopoldo Sanches managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's supporters crossed their fingers, but Leopoldo Sanches was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 8 minutes into the match, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's goal looked a bit too open when Kauan Monteiro came free, but Gianluigi Donnarumma reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Caio Rosa got a free kick in the 11th minute. After having played for 12 minutes, Kauan Monteiro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. After some careless play in the Jardim América FC defense, Vitinho Moreira kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Perivaldo Torres. The Jardim América FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Perivaldo Torres should have stopped the shot. In the 28th minute Vitinho Moreira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Perivaldo Torres saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cristiano Senna received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Gianluigi Donnarumma tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 34th minute, Walmir Araújo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of S.E.R. Caxias do Sul booed when Jardim América FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cristiano Senna didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Jardim América FC's Marcel Gonçalves got a free kick in the 39th minute. If Kauan Monteiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

Gianluigi Donnarumma took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kauan Monteiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 52nd minute, Cristiano Senna hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Giovanni Soeiro during the 54th minute. In the 72nd minute, Cristiano Senna ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gianluigi Donnarumma was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. In the 75th minute, Ladislao Mazurkiewicz left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The S.E.R. Caxias do Sul fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. Vitinho Moreira struck a weak shot in the 80th minute. Perivaldo Torres didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for S.E.R. Caxias do Sul. When Walmir Araújo was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 83 minutes had been played. Walmir Araújo hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match.
