When the match had gone on for 15 minutes, David Loureiro took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Waldir Faria to make any attempt to save it. Olavo Fonseca fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Severino Alcântara having to interfere. 26 minutes into the match, Vascogoianiense FC's goalkeeper Waldir Faria had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by David Loureiro. Severino Alcântara took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Inácio Linhares, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd rose to their feet as David Loureiro kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Waldir Faria. That made the score 3-0 in the 31 minute of play. After 34 played minutes Vascogoianiense FC got a freekick which was hit by Inácio Linhares. Waldir Faria was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 35th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Nestor Cordeiro. With a little luck, Vascogoianiense FC's Waldir Faria got control of the ball when Didi Gaúcho tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 38th minute, José Maria Favoretto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 39th minute of the match Olavo Fonseca sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Severino Alcântara skillfully saved the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ezequiel Melo in the 41st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Waldir Faria saved Vascogoianiense FC from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Olavo Fonseca in the 45th minute of play forced AF CERRADO's goalkeeper Severino Alcântara to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by David Loureiro in the 47th minute of play forced Vascogoianiense FC's goalkeeper Waldir Faria to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell David Loureiro to make the kick off. A collision led to Vascogoianiense FC getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Valdemar Marinho hit a great ball. 53 minutes into the match, David Loureiro had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Waldir Faria. Vascogoianiense FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that David Loureiro was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-0. Waldir Faria showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from David Loureiro in the 56th minute of the match. Ezequiel Melo might have been able to make a better finish in the 57th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Waldir Faria. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ezequiel Melo ran back to his position shaking his head. When Ulisses Cordeiro fell near the penalty area in the 58th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Vascogoianiense FC's protests and gave Ulisses Cordeiro a yellow card for diving instead. In the 58th minute, Ulisses Cordeiro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Vascogoianiense FC's Gil Sampaio shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 63rd minute of play. The shot was stopped by Severino Alcântara but with some difficulty. Inácio Linhares could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 67th minute of the match, but Severino Alcântara made a huge save. Waldir Faria stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of David Loureiro's shot from short distance in the 69th minute. After some careless play in the Vascogoianiense FC defense, Didi Gaúcho kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Waldir Faria. The Vascogoianiense FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Waldir Faria should have stopped the shot. In the 82nd match minute, AF CERRADO was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Wiliam Rosa to maneuver through the defense. In the 85th match minute, Vascogoianiense FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Téo Marques to maneuver through the defense. 87 minutes into the game, Ezequiel Melo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player.
