A collision led to Vascogoianiense FC getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Márcio Medeiros hit a great ball. Zé Augusto Peixoto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marcelo Eger in the 23rd minute of the match. In the 25th minute the ball was on its way in behind Vascogoianiense FC's goalkeeper Zé Augusto Peixoto, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When the match had gone on for 38 minutes, Mauro Sarmento took a quick shot and it went in 2-1 without a chance for Zé Augusto Peixoto to make any attempt to save it. Castanheiro SC's Ulisses Senna suffered a sore thigh after 44 minutes and couldn't finish the game. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Márcio Medeiros during the 44th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Castanheiro SC made a substitution. Fiori Félix replaced Ulisses Senna. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

But to his dismay, Telmo da Fonseca quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. In the 78th minute, Marcelo Eger made a precise shot to the right of Zé Augusto Peixoto. Vascogoianiense FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-1. Vascogoianiense FC's Zé Augusto Peixoto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Júnior Alagoano in the 80th minute of play. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart.
