Wictor Mejling was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Kevin Keegan showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 47 minute of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The ball went over the crossbar instead. The crowd rose to their feet as Thomás Nickerson kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Ronnie Hellström. That made the score 2-1 in the 97 minute of play. Skövde AIK's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
