Maureen Franco took the ball and in the 14 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ronnie Hellström. Ronnie Hellström dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. In the 17th minute, Kurt Hamrin left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Skövde AIK fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. Kevin Keegan received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Maximo Horquizar came out and tried to block the shot, but Kevin Keegan slotted it home off the left post making it 3-1 in the 20th minute. 22 minutes into the game, Filip Brolin was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Skövde AIK's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sporting Buceo the free kick. In the 22nd match minute, Skövde AIK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Filip Brolin to maneuver through the defense. After 24 played minutes Skövde AIK got a freekick which was hit by Kevin Keegan. Xinto Carreiras struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. Ronnie Hellström didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sporting Buceo. Maximo Horquizar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Knut Rudberg in the 29th minute of play. Krister Uggstedt hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. In the 31st minute of the match Maureen Franco sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ronnie Hellström skillfully saved the ball. 32 minutes into the match, Skövde AIK's goal looked a bit too open when Xinto Carreiras came free, but Ronnie Hellström reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Sporting Buceo booed when Skövde AIK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hjalmar Hägert didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 35 played minutes, Sporting Buceo's Maureen Franco shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Ronnie Hellström came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Sporting Buceo reached it. Ronnie Hellström showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Xavies Casavela, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. Maureen Franco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Maximo Horquizar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Knut Rudberg in the 44th minute of play. 47 minutes into the match, Xinto Carreiras had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ronnie Hellström. Skövde AIK's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Xinto Carreiras was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-2.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Xinto Carreiras stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 54 minutes into the match, Xavies Casavela notched a goal, 3-3, to the right of Skövde AIK's Ronnie Hellström. Ronnie Hellström was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Ronnie Hellström showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rainier Gregoire, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. Ronnie Hellström was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 81st minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Maureen Franco. 84 minutes into the match, Skövde AIK's goalkeeper Ronnie Hellström had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rainier Gregoire. Ronnie Hellström stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Maureen Franco's shot from short distance in the 87th minute. Ronnie Hellström took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Maureen Franco, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 92nd minute, Sporting Buceo's Maureen Franco dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-5. Ronnie Hellström made a fantastic save in the 96th minute, when Charly Good sent off a good shot on target. Sporting Buceo's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
