The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Santo Beat fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Natalio Gerazan having to interfere. In the 9th minute, C. A. Potrero's Gaudencio Rico seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Gaudencio Rico the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of C. A. Potrero protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Gaudencio Rico had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In the 10th minute there was a penalty for ATLETICO MENDOZA. Luisito Tono stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Pablo Acevedo. 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Serafino Geofredo in the 17th minute of play forced ATLETICO MENDOZA's goalkeeper Natalio Gerazan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 19 minutes, Serafino Geofredo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. C. A. Potrero's supporters crossed their fingers, but Serafino Geofredo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Serafino Geofredo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Natalio Gerazan having to interfere. Claudio Eudoxio kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. Natalio Gerazan made a fantastic save in the 23rd minute, when Niceto Lehior sent off a good shot on target. With a little luck, ATLETICO MENDOZA's Natalio Gerazan got control of the ball when Serafino Geofredo tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Raimundo Sal fell near the penalty area in the 31st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored C. A. Potrero's protests and gave Raimundo Sal a yellow card for diving instead. Edgardo Estebano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Pablo Acevedo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Edgardo Estebano's shot from short distance in the 36th minute. In the 38th minute Edgardo Estebano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pablo Acevedo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Pablo Acevedo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edgardo Estebano in the 41st minute of the match. Pablo Acevedo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luisito Tono in the 42nd minute of play. 44 minutes into the match, Fausto Benino had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Pablo Acevedo. C. A. Potrero's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Fausto Benino was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. After the first half ATLETICO MENDOZA were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

58 minutes had been played when some careless play by ATLETICO MENDOZA's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Santo Beat was slow to take the kick. During this time C. A. Potrero's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Santo Beat got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Natalio Gerazan quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. After a rather tough play, C. A. Potrero's Cesar Gora got a free kick in the 61st minute. After having played for 64 minutes, Niceto Lehior managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. C. A. Potrero's supporters crossed their fingers, but Niceto Lehior was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 65 minutes into the match, Serafino Geofredo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Natalio Gerazan. ATLETICO MENDOZA's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Serafino Geofredo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. After 71 played minutes C. A. Potrero got a freekick which was hit by Bernardo Maule. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edgardo Estebano in the 72nd minute of play forced C. A. Potrero's goalkeeper Pablo Acevedo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Pablo Acevedo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Fausto Benino in the 73rd minute. Lucas Constancio kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. In the 77th minute, Claudio Eudoxio got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With a little luck, C. A. Potrero's Pablo Acevedo got control of the ball when Edgardo Estebano tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of ATLETICO MENDOZA booed when C. A. Potrero was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lucas Constancio didn't get a good kick on the ball. 90 minutes into the match, C. A. Potrero's goal looked a bit too open when Leonides Guifre came free, but Pablo Acevedo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 90th minute, Bernardo Maule hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 91 played minutes, ATLETICO MENDOZA's Claudio Eudoxio shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Pablo Acevedo came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in ATLETICO MENDOZA reached it. C. A. Potrero's Pablo Acevedo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luisito Tono in the 93rd minute of play. In the 94th minute, Serafino Geofredo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Natalio Gerazan was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-3. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. ATLETICO MENDOZA walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
