After a defensive mix-up in Club Atlético Atlanta's zone, Ceferino Joey stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Carlos Germano came out of the goal and Ceferino Joey tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Efrain Veremundo made a fantastic save in the 14th minute, when Paolo Caradaro sent off a good shot on target. 28 minutes into the game, Marcos Berdoi was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Club Atlético Atlanta's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Las Palmas the free kick. In the 28th minute, Marcos Berdoi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Efrain Veremundo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eustaquio Jaizki in the 29th minute of play. 29 minutes into the game, Eustaquio Jaizki recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Efrain Veremundo. Eustaquio Jaizki showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Efrain Veremundo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marcos Berdoi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Antonio Berbiz got free with Carlos Germano in the 58th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 60 minutes into the match, Club Atlético Atlanta's goal looked a bit too open when Antonio Berbiz came free, but Carlos Germano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match had gone on for 60 minutes, Antonio Berbiz put it in 1-1 from a short distance just to the right of Carlos Germano. The crowd rose to their feet as Antonio Berbiz kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Carlos Germano. That made the score 1-2 in the 63 minute of play. Gaspar Flores might have been able to make a better finish in the 88th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Carlos Germano. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gaspar Flores ran back to his position shaking his head. The supporters of Las Palmas booed when Club Atlético Atlanta was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lázaro Cuartio didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 95th minute, Club Atlético Atlanta's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Gaspar Flores fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Club Atlético Atlanta's defense didn't have a chance, in the 96th minute, when Froilan Quinito scored to the left of an out of position Carlos Germano, making the score, 2-3. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Las Palmas eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
