The crowd rose to their feet as Jon-Egil Grønli kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Róbert Kormos. That made the score 1-0 in the 12 minute of play. Brufoss IL's Tor-Egil Arntsen got a good chance for a goal in the 18th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 19th match minute, Szombathely Squirrels was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ottó Vámosi to maneuver through the defense. When Mihály Földesi came up free with the goalie in the 23rd minute, the Szombathely Squirrels fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mihály Földesi couldn't finish the play. In the 25th minute, Arild Reppen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 26th minute of the match Dániel Szabadi sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Olav Øverby skillfully saved the ball. Szombathely Squirrels's Géza Gál got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Géza Gál recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 30th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Szombathely Squirrels's Ottó Vámosi in the 32nd minute got a chance for a shot 32nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mihály Földesi in the 39th minute of play forced Brufoss IL's goalkeeper Olav Øverby to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 45 minutes into the match, Brufoss IL's goal looked a bit too open when Mihály Földesi came free, but Olav Øverby reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Bastian Ytterstad was the one to do the kick off. Mihály Földesi struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Olav Øverby didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Szombathely Squirrels. Ottó Vámosi received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Olav Øverby came out and tried to block the shot, but Ottó Vámosi slotted it home off the left post making it 1-2 in the 54th minute. Mihály Földesi's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 59thth minute, Olav Øverby skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. If Kenneth Foldnes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 66th minute, Bastian Ytterstad left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Brufoss IL fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-2. Brufoss IL's Olav Øverby proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 71st minute of the match, managed to save Brufoss IL from getting a goal against them. In the 75th minute the ball was on its way in behind Szombathely Squirrels's goalkeeper Róbert Kormos, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Róbert Kormos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kenneth Foldnes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Olav Øverby stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ottó Vámosi's shot from short distance in the 78th minute. In the 81st minute, Ottó Vámosi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jørund Nyhagen was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 82nd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Jørund Nyhagen hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match. Brufoss IL's Bastian Ytterstad got a good chance for a goal in the 86th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Tor-Egil Arntsen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Róbert Kormos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Karl Bergstrøm kicked well hit freekick during the 89th minute of the match. Balázs Pálinkás hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
