A well-hit corner resulted in Raoul Kreibisch heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. 28 minutes into the match, SSV Ulm 1846's goal looked a bit too open when Douglas Lundin came free, but Kryspin Cupial reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 45th minute Niclas Monschke shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bernd Yuschni saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

After a defensive mix-up in Hannover Reds's zone, Don Merlot stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bernd Yuschni came out of the goal and Don Merlot tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Don Merlot could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 62nd minute of the match, but Bernd Yuschni made a huge save. 64 minutes into the match, Hannover Reds's Emilio Argina sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Kryspin Cupial narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The supporters of SSV Ulm 1846 booed when Hannover Reds was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Herbert Busch didn't get a good kick on the ball. Don Merlots short, quick shot in the 69thth minute got Bernd Yuschni to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. The referee ignored SSV Ulm 1846's protests and gave Jose Ramon Talcao a yellow card for diving instead. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. SSV Ulm 1846 walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
