Barbieri de Ituzaingó FC's Simon Seber proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 14th minute of the match, managed to save Barbieri de Ituzaingó FC from getting a goal against them. Luís Fábio Bittencourt stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Mariusz Ratulowski's shot from short distance in the 18th minute. Mariusz Ratulowski might have been able to make a better finish in the 19th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Luís Fábio Bittencourt. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mariusz Ratulowski ran back to his position shaking his head. Luís Fábio Bittencourt showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mariusz Ratulowski in the 19th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Barbieri de Ituzaingó FC's Leonel Ourente got a free kick in the 21st minute. Mariusz Ratulowski's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Luís Fábio Bittencourt read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 23rd minute of play. Luís Fábio Bittencourt took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mariusz Ratulowski, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mariusz Ratulowski recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 34th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 36th minute, Jarbas Silveira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Eloy Pello had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Anibal Sindo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mariusz Ratulowski blasted a shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Luís Fábio Bittencourt having to make a save. The throw-in from Eloy Pello in the 44th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO's Aírton Silveira. In the 46th minute, Mariusz Ratulowski hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Aírton Prado made a kick off. The supporters of E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO booed when Barbieri de Ituzaingó FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eloy Pello didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO getting a freekick after 62 minutes play. Ayrton Lucas hit a great ball. Simon Seber showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aírton Prado, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. Anibal Sindo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Luís Fábio Bittencourt tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Osmar Toledo hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mariusz Ratulowski got free with Luís Fábio Bittencourt in the 68th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Luís Fábio Bittencourt showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mariusz Ratulowski, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Anibal Sindo got free with Luís Fábio Bittencourt in the 71st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a little luck, E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO's Luís Fábio Bittencourt got control of the ball when Mariusz Ratulowski tried to sneak it across the goal line. Mariusz Ratulowski struck a weak shot in the 78th minute. Luís Fábio Bittencourt didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Barbieri de Ituzaingó FC. Luís Fábio Bittencourt stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Mariusz Ratulowski's shot from short distance in the 82nd minute. When the match had gone on for 83 minutes, Mariusz Ratulowski put it in 0-3 from a short distance just to the right of Luís Fábio Bittencourt. Barbieri de Ituzaingó FC's Mariusz Ratulowski got a good chance for a goal in the 88th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Osmar Toledo fell near the penalty area in the 89th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO's protests and gave Osmar Toledo a yellow card for diving instead. In the game's 90th minute Barbieri de Ituzaingó FC's Gerardo Etxepare took a hard shot from long distance, a kick which went into the net just to the right of Luís Fábio Bittencourt and thus the score was 0-4.
