Spectators: 165 (Terracing: 124, Seating: 38, VIP seats: 3) Brett Hull made the kick off and thus started the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Brett Hull in the 3rd minute of play forced Mexilhão F. C.'s goalkeeper Vitório de Salles to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Brett Hull fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vitório de Salles having to interfere. Vitório de Salles made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dante Grenier in the 9th minute of play. Preston Guzman struck a weak shot in the 11th minute. Vitório de Salles didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for AFC Richmond. 12 minutes into the match, Rashad Stern dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Vitório de Salles, 1-0. After 18 minutes of play, AFC Richmond's Rashad Stern made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Vitório de Salles was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 24th minute, Mexilhão F. C.'s goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Dante Grenier fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Róbson Passos recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 28th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Mexilhão F. C. booed when AFC Richmond was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rashad Stern didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Brett Hull got free with Vitório de Salles in the 33rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Vitório de Salles was out of position in the 38 minute of play, and Dante Grenier capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Dante Grenier really showed his touch with that goal: 3-0. Vitório de Salles came out of the goal in the 46th minute to try and stop a shot by AFC Richmond's Brett Hull. But to his dismay, Brett Hull quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Róbson Passos stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With an all-out effort, Mexilhão F. C.'s Rene Pouliotte threw himself towards the right post 56 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Serafim Motta, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 59 minutes into the match, Brett Hull had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Vitório de Salles. Mexilhão F. C.'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Brett Hull was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-0. In the 64thth minute of the game Brett Hull who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Mexilhão F. C.'s Vitório de Salles was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 65th minute, Rashad Stern left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The AFC Richmond fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 6-0. 70 minutes into the match, AFC Richmond's goalkeeper Rene Pouliotte had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Róbson Passos. Vitório de Salles showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dante Grenier, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Róbson Passos in the 80th minute of play forced AFC Richmond's goalkeeper Rene Pouliotte to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Vitório de Salles showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Brett Hull, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. Serafim Motta kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Mexilhão F. C.'s Zeca do Vale got a free kick in the 91st minute.
