The supporters of Várzea F.C. booed when Juventud Antoniana was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Remigio Rafe didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alessandro Mandrak in the 14th minute of play forced Juventud Antoniana's goalkeeper Ubaldo Santiago to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ubaldo Santiago made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luiz Guilherme Barreto in the 15th minute of play. Evaristo Montxo charged in rather forcefully in the 18th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Evaristo Montxo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Albertinho Travassos's late challenge caught a Juventud Antoniana's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Albertinho Travassos helped the player get up and apologised. In the 26th match minute, Juventud Antoniana was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Delmiro Castel to maneuver through the defense. Várzea F.C.'s Reinaldo Queiroz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Evaristo Montxo in the 27th minute of play. Ubaldo Santiago showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alessandro Mandrak, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. In the 39th match minute, Juventud Antoniana was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Remigio Rafe to maneuver through the defense. After 40 played minutes, Várzea F.C.'s Gilson Neves shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Ubaldo Santiago came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Evaristo Montxo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The attack was good, but when Alessandro Mandrak in the 57th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. 59 minutes into the match, Juventud Antoniana's goal looked a bit too open when Vivaldo Bueno came free, but Ubaldo Santiago reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ubaldo Santiago showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vivaldo Bueno, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. In the 65th match minute, Várzea F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vivaldo Bueno to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought a goal was coming when Bruninho Arósio got free with Ubaldo Santiago in the 67th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a little luck, Juventud Antoniana's Ubaldo Santiago got control of the ball when Vivaldo Bueno tried to sneak it across the goal line. After some careless play in the Juventud Antoniana defense, Jailson Koehler kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ubaldo Santiago. The Juventud Antoniana fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ubaldo Santiago should have stopped the shot.
