Aleksander Eliasson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cássio Corrêa having to interfere. With an all-out effort, Goiânia FC's Eric Lilja threw himself towards the right post 9 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Rafinha Ferraz, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. With a little luck, DFP's Eric Lilja got control of the ball when Francisco Cearense tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 18 played minutes Goiânia FC got a freekick which was hit by Aírton de Andrade. DFP's Aleksander Eliasson got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 23 minutes into the match, Goiânia FC's goal looked a bit too open when Aleksander Eliasson came free, but Cássio Corrêa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 25th minute, Aleksander Eliasson managed to get in a good position for a shot. DFP's supporters rose to their feet, but Aleksander Eliasson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cássio Corrêa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Franklin Lopes charged in rather forcefully in the 26th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Franklin Lopes the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 26 played minutes Goiânia FC got a freekick which was hit by Franklin Lopes. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Philip Eriksson in the 27th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Cássio Corrêa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Cássio Corrêa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Olov Berggren, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 30 minutes into the match, Philip Eriksson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Cássio Corrêa. Goiânia FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Philip Eriksson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. The audience thought a goal was coming when Francisco Cearense got free with Eric Lilja in the 37th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Rafinha Ferraz received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Eric Lilja came out and tried to block the shot, but Rafinha Ferraz slotted it home off the left post making it 2-2 in the 39th minute. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

A collision led to DFP getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Elof Lund hit a great ball. Eric Lilja showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fabrício Zonta, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. DFP's Eric Lilja played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rafinha Ferraz in the 62nd minute of play. 64 minutes into the match, Goiânia FC's goal looked a bit too open when Elof Lund came free, but Cássio Corrêa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 66th minute Philip Eriksson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cássio Corrêa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Alex Lööf came up free with the goalie in the 69th minute, the DFP fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alex Lööf couldn't finish the play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Elof Caspersson during the 75th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 75 played minutes DFP got a freekick which was hit by Elof Caspersson. DFP's Eric Lilja played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rafinha Ferraz in the 77th minute of play. The supporters of Goiânia FC booed when DFP was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Elof Caspersson didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. DFP had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
