Matthias Merk didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Valentin Enekoitz went, in the 21st minute, to the upper right corner, 4-0 was the resulting score. The crowd rose to their feet as Palermo's Evelio Guipuzkoa slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Matthias Merk. That made the score 5-0 after 36 minutes of play. 39 minutes into the match, Armando Ralondo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Matthias Merk. Balus Treter's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Armando Ralondo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 6-0. Delf Adler charged in rather forcefully in the 47th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Armando Ralondo in the 65th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Matthias Merk prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The supporters of Balus Treter booed when Palermo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dionisio Oton didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nicanor Gaufred sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Matthias Merk stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Armando Ralondo's shot from short distance in the 79th minute.
