The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Miguel Merentiel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 4th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 9 played minutes Frontera AFC got a freekick which was hit by Miguel Merentiel. Club Atletico Rio Tercero were awarded a corner in the 17th minute after Frontera AFC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Alejandro Ibañez took the corner. After taking down the ball on Club Atletico Rio Tercero's corner Alejandro Ibañez fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Chiquinho Romero quite easily take care of the ball. 19 minutes into the match, Frontera AFC's Alberto Márcico sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Hermengildo Montrel narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 19th minute, Alberto Márcico left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Frontera AFC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. After a rather tough play, Club Atletico Rio Tercero's Cleto Rocio got a free kick in the 23rd minute. Miguel Merentiel recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 24th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Hermengildo Montrel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edison Cavani in the 31st minute of play. Frontera AFC's Chiquinho Romero proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 47th minute of the match, managed to save Frontera AFC from getting a goal against them. The Club Atletico Rio Tercero players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Frontera AFC were winning 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Edison Cavani stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Club Atletico Rio Tercero getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Andres Salamon hit a great ball. After 59 played minutes Frontera AFC got a freekick which was hit by Severino Cucao. Erasmo Goizeder's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Chiquinho Romero read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 63rd minute of play. Isidoro Lluis kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. Frontera AFC's Benigno Aresti was substituted for Isidoro Lluis. Frontera AFC's Silvestre Solustiano was substituted for Cristian Lema. After a rather tough play, Frontera AFC's Isidoro Lluis got a free kick in the 65th minute. Erasmo Goizeder fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Chiquinho Romero having to interfere. After 89 minutes of play, Club Atletico Rio Tercero's Samuel Lon made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Chiquinho Romero was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 92nd match minute, Club Atletico Rio Tercero was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eleuterio Cesaro to maneuver through the defense. In the 93rd minute, Edison Cavani got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 95 minutes had been played when some careless play by Club Atletico Rio Tercero's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Edison Cavani was slow to take the kick. During this time Frontera AFC's players had a chance to rest. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
