After 15 played minutes Club Atletico Rio Tercero got a freekick which was hit by Benicio Rito. Chiquinho Romero showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Samuel Lon in the 17th minute of the match. In the 20th minute Edison Cavani shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hermengildo Montrel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 22 minutes had been played when some careless play by Club Atletico Rio Tercero's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Edison Cavani was slow to take the kick. During this time Frontera AFC's players had a chance to rest. A well-hit corner resulted in Miguel Merentiel heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Benigno Aresti fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hermengildo Montrel having to interfere. Candido Abad hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. Edison Cavani, 27 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Chiquinho Romero showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Erasmo Goizeder, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. Chiquinho Romero showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Erasmo Goizeder in the 32nd minute of the match. Chiquinho Romero stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Samuel Lon's shot from short distance in the 34th minute. Chiquinho Romero came out of the goal in the 47th minute to try and stop a shot by Club Atletico Rio Tercero's Samuel Lon. But to his dismay, Samuel Lon quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Frontera AFC made a substitution. Severino Cucao replaced Alberto Márcico. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Samuel Lon in the 55th minute of play forced Frontera AFC's goalkeeper Chiquinho Romero to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 57th minute, Frontera AFC's Cristian Lema seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Cristian Lema the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Frontera AFC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Cristian Lema had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In a very dangerous position, a player in Frontera AFC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 56th minute. Penalty! The goalkeeper, Chiquinho Romero, was totally fooled by Club Atletico Rio Tercero's Alejandro Ibañez, who 59 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. After a rather tough play, Club Atletico Rio Tercero's Andres Salamon got a free kick in the 61st minute. Club Atletico Rio Tercero's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Alejandro Ibañez in the 69th minute. After taking down the ball on Club Atletico Rio Tercero's corner Alejandro Ibañez fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Chiquinho Romero quite easily take care of the ball. Benicio Rito's late challenge caught a Frontera AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Benicio Rito helped the player get up and apologised. 78 minutes into the match, Candido Abad dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Chiquinho Romero, 0-3.
