Rui Costa was slow to take the kick. During this time A.C. Patagonia's players had a chance to rest. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dariusz Wos in the 5th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Donato Balestra prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Calenzano's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Filippo Vulcano in the 13th minute. A well-hit corner resulted in Arturo Di Matteo heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Dariusz Wos might have been able to make a better finish in the 15th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Donato Balestra. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Dariusz Wos ran back to his position shaking his head. Donato Balestra showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dariusz Wos, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. In the 21st minute, Rui Costa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 24 minutes into the match, A.C. Patagonia's goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Arturo Di Matteo. Dariusz Wos's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Donato Balestra read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 29th minute of play. Dariusz Wos recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 47th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.

Camillo Terrasi's late challenge caught a Calenzano's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Camillo Terrasi helped the player get up and apologised. Camillo Terrasi hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match. In the 95th minute, Comunardo Chizzo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Calenzano fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-3. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched A.C. Patagonia eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
