After 12 minutes Eleven Nation Army's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Fernando Romero who took care of the corner kick. The corner led Goiás E. C.'s Fernando Romero to fire away a dangerous shot which Marcus Svanér despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 18th minute, Alex Seedorf hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Marcus Svanér stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Fernando Romero's shot from short distance in the 21st minute. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Fernando Romero was the one to do the kick off. Fernando Romero let the left foot speak when in front of goal in the 53rd minute shot 1-2 at rihgt post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sven Uter in the 69th minute of play forced Goiás E. C.'s goalkeeper Jânio Leme to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Goiás E. C.'s Fernando Romero in the 71st minute got a chance for a shot 71st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Eleven Nation Army's goalie prevented a goal. Goiás E. C.'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Eleven Nation Army the free kick. Sune Nilsson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 82nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Monge Mong hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match. Enio Andrade hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Goiás E. C. eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
