The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's Arthur Bufi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Florencio Leoiar in the 32nd minute of play. With his leg Nicklas Vennerlund managed to avoid a goal in the 35thth minute, when Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's 余永川 fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Aaron Rojelio blasted a shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Arthur Bufi having to make a save. After 40 played minutes Cruzeiro Esporte Clube got a freekick which was hit by Pedro Paulo Dante. 余永川 received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Nicklas Vennerlund tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a little luck, El Patriarca ®'s Nicklas Vennerlund got control of the ball when 余永川 tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in El Patriarca ®'s zone, 余永川 stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nicklas Vennerlund came out of the goal and 余永川 tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Duarte Félix was the one to do the kick off. In the 51st minute, 余永川 ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Nicklas Vennerlund was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1. In the 54thth minute of the game 余永川 who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but El Patriarca ®'s Nicklas Vennerlund was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. With 56 minutes on the clock, Nicanor Rodriguez commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. After 56 played minutes El Patriarca ® got a freekick which was hit by Nicanor Rodriguez. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling 余永川 in the 59th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nicklas Vennerlund prevented the ball from getting in the gole. El Patriarca ®:s Nicklas Vennerlund showed great skill when he stopped Oswaldo Maranhense:s penalty. After 65 minutes of play, Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's Oswaldo Maranhense made it 4-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Nicklas Vennerlund was left in no man's land by his defense there! Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's Brock Friend was substituted for Duarte Félix. 余永川 might have been able to make a better finish in the 69th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nicklas Vennerlund. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. 余永川 ran back to his position shaking his head. Nicklas Vennerlund made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from 余永川 in the 85th minute of play. Nicklas Vennerlund took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from 余永川, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nicklas Vennerlund showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from 余永川, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. 94 minutes into the game, Brock Friend cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-1. Nicklas Vennerlund was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Cristi Saron sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Cruzeiro Esporte Clube fans cheered their team off the field, for while El Patriarca ® had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
