Joaquim Pombal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Charlie Bjurström in the 12th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Clube Sporting Navuo's zone, Charlie Bjurström stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Joaquim Pombal came out of the goal and Charlie Bjurström tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 24 minutes into the match, DFP's goal looked a bit too open when Flávio Reis came free, but Joel Vallengren reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 26th minute Gabriel Batistuta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joel Vallengren saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Stefano Lilipaly came up free with the goalie in the 27th minute, the DFP fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Stefano Lilipaly couldn't finish the play. 29 minutes into the match, DFP's goalkeeper Joel Vallengren had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Flávio Reis. If Charlie Bjurström had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Charlie Bjurström in the 73rd minute of play forced Clube Sporting Navuo's goalkeeper Joaquim Pombal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Charlie Bjurström couldn't finish the play. When the final whistle sounded DFP left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Clube Sporting Navuo.
