Nestor Penha received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Felix Rubio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 15th minute, Eriberto Flor hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With an all-out effort, Noia's Felix Rubio threw himself towards the right post 18 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Valdemar Figueiredo, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 19th minute, Nestor Penha reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Felix Rubio. The goal made the score 1-1. Merengue FC's Felix Rubio proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 22nd minute of the match, managed to save Merengue FC from getting a goal against them. Hélio Senna kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. Rodrigo Balasi might have been able to make a better finish in the 27th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Josué Eger. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Rodrigo Balasi ran back to his position shaking his head. The supporters of Merengue FC booed when Noia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ediberto Netto didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some careless play in the Noia defense, Rodrigo Balasi kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Josué Eger. The Noia fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Josué Eger should have stopped the shot. In the 42nd minute, Durvalino Ferreira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 48 minutes into the match, Merengue FC's goal looked a bit too open when Ediberto Netto came free, but Felix Rubio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Eugênio Varela to strike the kick off in the second half. Eugênio Varela might have been able to make a better finish in the 52nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Felix Rubio. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Eugênio Varela ran back to his position shaking his head. After 54 played minutes Noia got a freekick which was hit by Durvalino Ferreira. After some fancy dribbling in the 55th minute, Rodrigo Balasi managed to get in a good position for a shot. Merengue FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Rodrigo Balasi was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Josué Eger breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ediberto Netto kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. A collision led to Merengue FC getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Arnoldo Larra hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Noia's Edmílson Massa got a free kick in the 62nd minute. Anibal Gipuzkoa charged in rather forcefully in the 65th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Anibal Gipuzkoa the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Anibal Gipuzkoa hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. Nestor Penha kicked well hit freekick during the 68th minute of the match. Josué Eger made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rodrigo Balasi in the 73rd minute of play. In the 76th match minute, Merengue FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eriberto Flor to maneuver through the defense. Egídio de Senna took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 77th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Felix Rubio. Merengue FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Noia's Eugênio Varela got a good chance for a goal in the 86th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 87 played minutes Merengue FC got a freekick which was hit by Arnoldo Larra. In the 88th minute of the match Egídio de Senna shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Felix Rubio showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 96 minutes into the match, Merengue FC's goal looked a bit too open when Nestor Penha came free, but Felix Rubio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Merengue FC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
