Club Atlético Atlanta's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Marcos Berdoi in the 3rd minute. 5 minutes into the match, Club Atlético Atlanta's goal looked a bit too open when Traian Hăvârneanu came free, but Carlos Germano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Eustaquio Jaizki came up free with the goalie in the 6th minute, the Club Atlético Atlanta fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eustaquio Jaizki couldn't finish the play. In the 15th minute, Paolo Caradaro left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Club Atlético Atlanta fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Carlos Germano made an important save on a dangerous shot by Luís Caeiro in the 19th minute. In the 22nd minute Traian Hăvârneanu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlos Germano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luís Caeiro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 23rd minute of the match, but Carlos Germano made a huge save. In the 24th minute Jaime Corte-Real shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlos Germano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Paolo Caradaro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Leandro Barcelos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 31 minutes into the game, Luís Caeiro cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Carlos Germano was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Jaime Espinosa hit a great ball. 43 minutes into the match, VB-Team's goal looked a bit too open when Marcos Berdoi came free, but Leandro Barcelos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 47 minutes into the match, Luís Caeiro dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Carlos Germano, 2-3. After the first half Club Atlético Atlanta were leading 2-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
In the 55th minute, Eustaquio Jaizki reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Leandro Barcelos. The goal made the score 2-4. VB-Team's Leandro Barcelos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eustaquio Jaizki in the 58th minute of play. Marcos Berdoi recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 60 minutes, Traian Hăvârneanu made it 3-4 with a short kick to the right side. Club Atlético Atlanta's Carlos Germano tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Remigio Erramu's late challenge caught a VB-Team's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Remigio Erramu helped the player get up and apologised. In the 69th minute, Remigio Erramu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Carlos Germano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Traian Hăvârneanu, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. Carlos Germano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Humberto Castro in the 75th minute of play. 77 minutes into the match, Club Atlético Atlanta's goal looked a bit too open when Traian Hăvârneanu came free, but Carlos Germano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 80th minute, Marcos Berdoi got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 82 played minutes VB-Team got a freekick which was hit by Traian Hăvârneanu. Carlos Germano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luís Caeiro in the 84th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Club Atlético Atlanta's zone, Luís Caeiro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Carlos Germano came out of the goal and Luís Caeiro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Carlos Germano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jaime Corte-Real in the 87th minute of play. Jaime Corte-Real recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 92nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The Club Atlético Atlanta supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Club Atlético Atlanta would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
