In the 7th minute Emanuel Obafuso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paulo Txatxu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 9 minutes into the match, Q. T. I.'s goal looked a bit too open when Severino Jatsu came free, but Paulo Txatxu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Racing Club【LBF】's Emanuel Obafuso got a free kick in the 13th minute. If Filomeno Aurken had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 16th minute, Lázaro Haitz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Erubiel Stephen hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. Q. T. I.'s Paulo Txatxu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Severino Jatsu in the 30th minute of play. Paulo Txatxu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sérgio Ramos in the 36th minute of the match. Paulo Txatxu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Manuel Marchidan, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Racing Club【LBF】's zone, Nestor Chap stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cláudio Taffarel came out of the goal and Nestor Chap tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Q. T. I.'s Pablo Perutxo was substituted for Lázaro Haitz. After a rather tough play, Racing Club【LBF】's Lucho Gonzales got a free kick in the 45th minute. When Samuel Frisco fell near the penalty area in the 46th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Racing Club【LBF】's protests and gave Samuel Frisco a yellow card for diving instead. In the 46th minute, one of Racing Club【LBF】:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Racing Club【LBF】. When the match had been going on for 47 minutes, Q. T. I.'s Hilario Gorri got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Cláudio Taffarel. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Manuel Marchidan to strike the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Emanuel Obafuso got free with Paulo Txatxu in the 56th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Filomeno Aurken in the 60th minute of play forced Racing Club【LBF】's goalkeeper Cláudio Taffarel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
