The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After some fancy dribbling in the 3rd minute, Sydney Velloso managed to get in a good position for a shot. A A Arizona's supporters rose to their feet, but Sydney Velloso was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Joel Caton breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Fabricio Vedeja sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Joel Caton showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alfredo Lopes in the 9th minute of the match. Hu Zhen Hong made an important save on a dangerous shot by Fabricio Vedeja in the 10th minute. 12 minutes had been played when some careless play by A A Arizona's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Reasco Landeros was slow to take the kick. During this time Loja S.C.'s players had a chance to rest. In the 14th minute, Alfredo Lopes left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The A A Arizona fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. 17 minutes into the match, A A Arizona's goal looked a bit too open when Felix Pascua came free, but Hu Zhen Hong reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Victor Peres got free with Hu Zhen Hong in the 21st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A A Arizona were awarded a corner in the 24th minute after Loja S.C.'s defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Nilson Hoffmann took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Nilson Hoffmann got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Joel Caton quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 34th minute of the match Loja S.C. got a corner. A A Arizona's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Reasco Landeros ran over to the corner to take the kick. 36 minutes into the match, Loja S.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Sydney Velloso came free, but Joel Caton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Justavino Centeno hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. After the first half A A Arizona were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When Alonzo Gipils came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the Loja S.C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alonzo Gipils couldn't finish the play. 62 minutes into the match, Loja S.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Alfredo Lopes came free, but Joel Caton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Reasco Landeros kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. Loja S.C.'s Jose Aumada got a good chance for a goal in the 70th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Fabricio Vedeja sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luiz Paulo de Queirós charged in rather forcefully in the 74th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Luiz Paulo de Queirós the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 74th match minute, A A Arizona was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luiz Paulo de Queirós to maneuver through the defense. Hu Zhen Hong showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luis-Antonio Barraza in the 78th minute of the match. Joel Caton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alfredo Lopes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Alfredo Lopes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Loja S.C.'s Joel Caton got control of the ball when Sydney Velloso tried to sneak it across the goal line. Victor Peres sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jorge Ramos during the 94th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to A A Arizona getting a freekick after 95 minutes play. Jorge Ramos hit a great ball. Loja S.C.'s fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
