In the 22nd minute Leonard Treppa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gonzo Maradona saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 23 minutes had been played when some careless play by Les Tigres's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Pitin Vallejo was slow to take the kick. During this time Tirant lo Blanch's players had a chance to rest. Luboš Štencl charged in rather forcefully in the 24th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Luboš Štencl the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 23rd minute, one of Les Tigres:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Les Tigres. Kamal Pahlevi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leonardo Tipi, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. Gonzo Maradona made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leonard Treppa in the 29th minute of play. Leonard Treppa might have been able to make a better finish in the 35th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gonzo Maradona. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Leonard Treppa ran back to his position shaking his head. Gonzo Maradona made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leonard Treppa in the 35th minute of play. Bernardo España hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. The supporters of Les Tigres booed when Tirant lo Blanch was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dabi Barba didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 43rd minute Leonard Treppa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gonzo Maradona saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Benigno Felo kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. Tirant lo Blanch's Pitin Vallejo got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Les Tigres's Rodolfo Luken was substituted for Silvano Ihazintu. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.
