Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Júlio Eger ran back to his position shaking his head. Valdo Catarinense took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mauro Sarmento, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 31 minutes into the match, SORRISO E. C.'s Alberto Mendonça sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Doni Seco narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Eliseu Pinheiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Doni Seco having to interfere. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Leopoldo Trancoso made a kick off. Castanheiro SC's Marcelo Eger got a good chance for a goal in the 54th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 55 minutes, Jairo Madureira mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the SORRISO E. C. and the Castanheiro SC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, SORRISO E. C.'s Jairo Madureira got a free kick in the 55th minute. After 56 minutes, Júnior Alagoano mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Castanheiro SC and the SORRISO E. C. players grew even worse after the yellow card. Júnior Alagoano kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. Leopoldo Trancoso struck a weak shot in the 92nd minute. Doni Seco didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SORRISO E. C.. In the 96th minute, Júnior Alagoano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Doni Seco took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alberto Mendonça, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

SORRISO E. C.'s supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
