Internacional's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Michael Laudrup in the 14th minute. The corner ended in Michael Laudrup almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Deportivo Empate's Kristoffer Martinsson did a great save. With a little luck, Internacional's Geronimo Rulli got control of the ball when Nickolai Skivild tried to sneak it across the goal line. 18 minutes in the game, Nickolai Skivild dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. 21 minutes into the match, Deportivo Empate's goal looked a bit too open when Ariel Vidal came free, but Kristoffer Martinsson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ariel Vidal took the ball and in the 21 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Kristoffer Martinsson. An unexpectedly hard shot by Laércio de Andrade in the 37th minute of play forced Deportivo Empate's goalkeeper Kristoffer Martinsson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rafael Abarca replaced Ege Deniz. Through an outstanding action, after 72 minutes, Kristoffer Martinsson successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Israel Aballe received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Kristoffer Martinsson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Kristoffer Martinsson made a fantastic save in the 75th minute, when Laércio de Andrade sent off a good shot on target. The audience was convinced that Nickolai Skivild's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Geronimo Rulli was relentless in the 76th minute of the game. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Internacional would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
