In the 3rd minute Venancio Emesto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Higinio Porfiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. LA MAQUINA F.C's Higinio Porfiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Diego Maradona in the 4th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Venancio Emesto in the 7th minute of play forced LA MAQUINA F.C's goalkeeper Higinio Porfiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 10 minutes into the match, Sporting de Gijón's goalkeeper Óscar Cordoba had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Loco Borja. After having played for 13 minutes, Rigoberto Turi managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. LA MAQUINA F.C's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rigoberto Turi was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Loco Borja could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 20th minute of the match, but Óscar Cordoba made a huge save. In the 26th minute, LA MAQUINA F.C's Joel Min seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Joel Min the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of LA MAQUINA F.C protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Joel Min had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. LA MAQUINA F.C:s Higinio Porfiro showed great skill when he stopped Saturnino Curcio:s penalty. Saturnino Curcio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Higinio Porfiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 30 minutes into the match, LA MAQUINA F.C's goal looked a bit too open when Diego Maradona came free, but Higinio Porfiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Higinio Porfiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Diego Maradona in the 30th minute of the match. Loco Borja received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Óscar Cordoba came out and tried to block the shot, but Loco Borja slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 34th minute. With a little luck, Sporting de Gijón's Óscar Cordoba got control of the ball when Loco Borja tried to sneak it across the goal line. Sporting de Gijón's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Loco Borja 38 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 2-0. After a rather tough play, Sporting de Gijón's Gabriel Diaz got a free kick in the 42nd minute. Loco Borja sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Óscar Cordoba made a fantastic save in the 45th minute, when Valentin Makovskiy sent off a good shot on target. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

Óscar Cordoba took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Valentin Makovskiy, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlos Alberto Pernambucano in the 57th minute of play forced Sporting de Gijón's goalkeeper Óscar Cordoba to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Higinio Porfiro came out of the goal in the 61st minute to try and stop a shot by Sporting de Gijón's Matias Bilintx. But to his dismay, Matias Bilintx quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. LA MAQUINA F.C's Bohuslav Plachetka was substituted for Santo Colas. In the 65th minute, Carlos Alberto Pernambucano left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The LA MAQUINA F.C fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. In the 71st minute Matias Bilintx shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Higinio Porfiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 71 minutes into the match, LA MAQUINA F.C's goal looked a bit too open when Matias Bilintx came free, but Higinio Porfiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 75th match minute, Sporting de Gijón was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Diego Maradona to maneuver through the defense. Matias Bilintx's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Higinio Porfiro read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 81st minute of play. After a rather tough play, LA MAQUINA F.C's Carlos Alberto Pernambucano got a free kick in the 83rd minute. Carlos Alberto Pernambucano kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in LA MAQUINA F.C's zone, Matias Bilintx stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Higinio Porfiro came out of the goal and Matias Bilintx tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the match had gone on for 89 minutes, Loco Borja put it in 4-1 from a short distance just to the right of Óscar Cordoba. Carlos Alberto Pernambucano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Óscar Cordoba having to interfere. In the 95th minute Loco Borja shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Óscar Cordoba saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Loco Borja's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Óscar Cordoba was relentless in the 95th minute of the game. 97 minutes into the match, Loco Borja had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Óscar Cordoba. Sporting de Gijón's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Loco Borja was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-1. Sporting de Gijón's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
