But to his dismay, Eero Grönholm quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sava Chuchev in the 20th minute of play forced FC LEVSKI ОК's goalkeeper Yasen Bumbalov to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to FC Grivata getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Slavey Kozovski hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, FC LEVSKI ОК's Bert Vincent got a free kick in the 22nd minute. The crowd rose to their feet as FC Grivata's Eero Grönholm slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Yasen Bumbalov. That made the score 4-0 after 35 minutes of play. In the 42nd minute, FC Grivata's Tzanko Chorbev seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Tzanko Chorbev the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of FC Grivata protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Tzanko Chorbev had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. 42 minutes into the game, one of FC Grivata:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The referee gave FC LEVSKI ОК a penalty, 44 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Mladen Haritonov, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of FC Grivata's Thomas Sørensen. 4-2. Bert Vincent struck a weak shot in the 46th minute. Thomas Sørensen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC LEVSKI ОК. Af the end of the first half the score was 4-2. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

In the 51st minute, Peycho Zheynov got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Venko Devenski came free with the goalkeeper in the 52nd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Thomas Sørensen could save by the left post. 53 minutes into the match, FC Grivata's goalkeeper Thomas Sørensen had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Stoyan Palahanov. After 56 minutes of play, FC Grivata's Sava Chuchev made it 5-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net.
