Igor Akinfeev showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ákos Szél, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ákos Szél stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Jedrzej Kasprzak's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Igor Akinfeev read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 53rd minute of play. In the 57th minute Fedor Ivanchuk shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jos Van Hinnendael saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Evgeniy Fomichev hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Voskresensk FC's zone, Jedrzej Kasprzak stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Igor Akinfeev came out of the goal and Jedrzej Kasprzak tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jos Van Hinnendael took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Evgeniy Fomichev, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nagyváradi AC's attentive Sixten Pååk managed to snatch the ball when Gu Xuan Xiong made a throw-in in the 68th minute of the game. Jos Van Hinnendael stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gleb Sorokin's shot from short distance in the 70th minute. Igor Akinfeev didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jedrzej Kasprzak went, in the 71st minute, to the upper right corner, 1-3 was the resulting score. Nagyváradi AC's Sixten Pååk managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Gu Xuan Xiong in the 82 minute of the game. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Chu Yang Qiang during the 83rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card.
