The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Aytaç Kalender made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sancar Süreyya in the 3rd minute of play. In the 6th minute, Charlotte Hornets's Cuma Cansefa ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Selahaddin Akçakıl. Selahaddin Akçakıl yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. In the 17th minute, Onuralp Cansoy hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Charlotte Hornets's Mahmut Danış got a free kick in the 19th minute. In the 20th minute Mithat Umurbay shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aytaç Kalender saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 21st match minute, Tarlabasi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mithat Umurbay to maneuver through the defense. If Mahmut Danış had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Selahaddin Akçakıl made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mahmut Danış in the 25th minute. Aytaç Kalender made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mithat Umurbay in the 29th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alper Siret in the 36th minute of play forced Charlotte Hornets's goalkeeper Aytaç Kalender to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 38th minute Mithat Umurbay shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aytaç Kalender saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Charlotte Hornets's Aytaç Kalender played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sancar Süreyya in the 41st minute of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 4-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Okaner Tümerkin to make the kick off. Okaner Tümerkin could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 59th minute of the match, but Aytaç Kalender made a huge save. Sancar Süreyya fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aytaç Kalender having to interfere. With a little luck, Charlotte Hornets's Aytaç Kalender got control of the ball when Alper Siret tried to sneak it across the goal line. Charlotte Hornets's Aytaç Kalender played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mithat Umurbay in the 66th minute of play. The audience held their breath when Cuma Cansefa in the 74th minute of the game managed to trick the opponents defenses and fired away a shot outside the goal on the Selahaddin Akçakıl's left hand side. After having played for 76 minutes, Mahmut Danış managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Charlotte Hornets's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mahmut Danış was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 77 minutes into the match, Charlotte Hornets's goalkeeper Aytaç Kalender had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mithat Umurbay. Selahaddin Akçakıl took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cuma Cansefa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cuma Cansefa scored 5-2 in the 88th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Selahaddin Akçakıl, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 94 minutes, Kazım Korgan mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Charlotte Hornets and the Tarlabasi players grew even worse after the yellow card. After some fancy dribbling in the 95th minute, Okaner Tümerkin managed to get in a good position for a shot. Tarlabasi's supporters rose to their feet, but Okaner Tümerkin was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Aytaç Kalender breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Tarlabasi's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
