With a little luck, Jastreb's Navarro Montoya got control of the ball when Stasio Bienienda tried to sneak it across the goal line. Luka Mata scored 0-1 in the 13th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ivan Chiuzbaian, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Ivan Chiuzbaian took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Börje Forsberg, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jastreb's Navarro Montoya played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by İlhami Akyazıcı in the 21st minute of play. A collision led to Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM- getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Zhao Sen Yang hit a great ball. Ivan Chiuzbaian took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luka Mata, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jastreb were awarded a corner in the 25th minute after Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Marco Materazzi took the corner. In the 28th match minute, Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM- was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Primitivo Grau to maneuver through the defense. Miran Tudor hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. Ivan Chiuzbaian showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Börje Forsberg, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Zhao Sen Yang kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Navarro Montoya. That made the score 1-1 in the 39 minute of play.

Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s Zhao Sen Yang got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ilko Smoje hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. In the 54th match minute, Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM- was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Petre Iftode to maneuver through the defense. Zhao Sen Yang might have been able to make a better finish in the 57th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Navarro Montoya. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Zhao Sen Yang ran back to his position shaking his head. After 59 played minutes Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM- got a freekick which was hit by Ricardo Jenaro. Ivan Chiuzbaian made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luka Mata in the 60th minute of play. Ricardo Jenaro kicked well hit freekick during the 62nd minute of the match. Börje Forsberg could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 63rd minute of the match, but Ivan Chiuzbaian made a huge save. Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s Ivan Chiuzbaian proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 67th minute of the match, managed to save Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM- from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luka Mata in the 68th minute of play forced Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s goalkeeper Ivan Chiuzbaian to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Zhao Sen Yang's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Navarro Montoya was relentless in the 90th minute of the game. After a defensive mix-up in Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s zone, Bo Cantona stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ivan Chiuzbaian came out of the goal and Bo Cantona tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s Ivan Chiuzbaian played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bo Cantona in the 93rd minute of play.

For all the effort they put into the match, the Jastreb players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-.
