In the 15th minute the ball was on its way in behind Grêmio FBPA's goalkeeper Rui Varela, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Kristof Klompe came up free with the goalie in the 17th minute, the De Digitale Dribbelaars fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kristof Klompe couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, Reinhard Alards managed to get in a good position for a shot. De Digitale Dribbelaars's supporters rose to their feet, but Reinhard Alards was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rui Varela breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With an all-out effort, Grêmio FBPA's Pieter-Jan Wagemakers threw himself towards the right post 21 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Wilian Alves, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 25th minute, Abraham Zandberg got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Kristof Klompe scored 0-2 in the 26th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Rui Varela, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. If Kristof Klompe had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 32 played minutes De Digitale Dribbelaars got a freekick which was hit by Roderick Zoetebier. Through an outstanding action, after 39 minutes, Pieter-Jan Wagemakers successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 40th minute Jasper Schildkamp shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rui Varela saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Grêmio FBPA booed when De Digitale Dribbelaars was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pankracy Wisniewski didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 46 minutes, Gildo Fantini managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Grêmio FBPA's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gildo Fantini was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After the first half De Digitale Dribbelaars were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Thanks to some nice moves Pankracy Wisniewski could shoot a difficult shot in the 67th minute, which Rui Varela however easily saved by the left post. A collision led to Grêmio FBPA getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Amadeu Pitta hit a great ball. When the match had gone on for 80 minutes, Reinhard Alards took a quick shot and it went in 0-4 without a chance for Rui Varela to make any attempt to save it. 83 minutes into the game, De Digitale Dribbelaars's Reinhard Alards nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Rui Varela made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-5. Grêmio FBPA's Rui Varela proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 85th minute of the match, managed to save Grêmio FBPA from getting a goal against them. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched De Digitale Dribbelaars eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
