Sporting de Gijón's Óscar Cordoba played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aureliano Karlo in the 9th minute of play. Óscar Cordoba made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aureliano Karlo in the 14th minute of play. In the 17th minute Aureliano Karlo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Óscar Cordoba saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Saturnino Curcio got free with Roberto Eztebe in the 19th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Sporting de Gijón's Diego Maradona got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Romulo Abilio in the 25th minute of play forced Sporting de Gijón's goalkeeper Óscar Cordoba to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Sporting de Gijón defense, Romulo Abilio kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Óscar Cordoba. The Sporting de Gijón fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Óscar Cordoba should have stopped the shot. After 46 minutes, Christoff Stocks mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the AFC FUSION and the Sporting de Gijón players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 46th minute, Christoff Stocks hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 47 minutes into the game, Matias Bilintx was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sporting de Gijón's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave AFC FUSION the free kick. A collision led to Sporting de Gijón getting a freekick after 48 minutes play. Matias Bilintx hit a great ball. The Sporting de Gijón players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. AFC FUSION were winning 1-2.

They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing AFC FUSION would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
