Ludomil Kajdasz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Matias Bilintx, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Sporting de Gijón defense, Arnaud Konieczny kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Óscar Cordoba. The Sporting de Gijón fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Óscar Cordoba should have stopped the shot. With a little luck, Sporting de Gijón's Óscar Cordoba got control of the ball when Antonin Dagorne tried to sneak it across the goal line. 19 minutes into the match, Herblay's goal looked a bit too open when Matias Bilintx came free, but Ludomil Kajdasz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Diego Maradona in the 20th minute of play forced Herblay's goalkeeper Ludomil Kajdasz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Norbert Cadart sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dimitri Bougault could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 23rd minute of the match, but Óscar Cordoba made a huge save. After some careless play in the Herblay defense, Diego Maradona kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ludomil Kajdasz. The Herblay fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ludomil Kajdasz should have stopped the shot. A collision led to Sporting de Gijón getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Eustacio Loiola hit a great ball. Ludomil Kajdasz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Matias Bilintx in the 35th minute of the match. Holger Duusgaard kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 37th minute, Matias Bilintx managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sporting de Gijón's supporters rose to their feet, but Matias Bilintx was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ludomil Kajdasz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Alejandro Rufo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 40th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Arnaud Konieczny could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 43rd minute of the match, but Óscar Cordoba made a huge save. Arnaud Konieczny fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Óscar Cordoba having to interfere. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Matias Bilintx made a kick off. 53 minutes into the match, Antonin Dagorne had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Óscar Cordoba. Sporting de Gijón's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Antonin Dagorne was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. Arnaud Konieczny fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Óscar Cordoba having to interfere. Sporting de Gijón made a substitution. Venancio Emesto replaced Alejandro Rufo. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Arnaud Konieczny in the 60th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Óscar Cordoba prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The audience thought a goal was coming when Diego Maradona got free with Ludomil Kajdasz in the 63rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Matias Bilintx in the 64th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ludomil Kajdasz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Óscar Cordoba was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Óscar Cordoba showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Norbert Cadart, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. Matias Bilintx's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 80thth minute, Ludomil Kajdasz skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Matias Bilintx in the 84thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Ludomil Kajdasz, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Ludomil Kajdasz made a fantastic save in the 85th minute, when Venancio Emesto sent off a good shot on target. Sporting de Gijón's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Gabriel Diaz in the 87th minute. Óscar Cordoba made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Antonin Dagorne in the 91st minute of play. In the 92nd minute Dimitri Bougault shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Óscar Cordoba saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 93 minutes Sporting de Gijón's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Dimitri Bougault who took care of the corner kick. Dimitri Bougault sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Herblay's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
