If André Jordão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the SC Braga defense, Savier Labora kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Antonio Adán. The SC Braga fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Antonio Adán should have stopped the shot. Thanks to some nice moves Quintino Carvalhais could shoot a difficult shot in the 23rd minute, which Tome Usel however easily saved by the left post. Quintino Carvalhais who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 25thth minute tested the skills of Tome Usel when he managed to save the team from getting behind. A collision led to Union Lara FC getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Edilberto Lacalle hit a great ball. In the 28th minute Savier Labora shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Antonio Adán saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Zigmantas Gimbutas to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Quintino Carvalhais in the 64th minute of play forced Union Lara FC's goalkeeper Tome Usel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tome Usel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Quintino Carvalhais, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Tome Usel was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Tome Usel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stig-Åke Mattsson in the 94th minute of play. After some careless play in the Union Lara FC defense, Quintino Carvalhais kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Tome Usel. The Union Lara FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tome Usel should have stopped the shot. There was no doubt that SC Braga were the better team. SC Braga's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
