Atlético Mineiro's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Pablo Lampard was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Gualter Penha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fynn John having to interfere. Doctor Strange received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Fynn John came out and tried to block the shot, but Doctor Strange slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 17th minute. Pablo Lampard who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 21stth minute tested the skills of Fynn John when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 25th minute Gualter Penha shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fynn John saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Atlético Mineiro's Fynn John played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gualter Penha in the 25th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Knut Söderström in the 28th minute of play forced Atlético Mineiro's goalkeeper Fynn John to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 29 minutes had been played when some careless play by Atlético Mineiro's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Dong Yang Bang was slow to take the kick. During this time Sport Clube Recife's players had a chance to rest. Percy Fernandez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from André Luís Best, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. Olívio França made a great header on Atlético Mineiro's corner, it was just that Sport Clube Recife's Percy Fernandez managed to reach the ball for a save. Fynn John showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Doctor Strange, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. In the 48th minute of the match Sport Clube Recife got a corner. Atlético Mineiro's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Dong Yang Bang ran over to the corner to take the kick. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

After 52 minutes, Doctor Strange made it 3-0 with a short kick to the right side. Atlético Mineiro's Fynn John tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Fynn John stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Doctor Strange's shot from short distance in the 56th minute. In the 57thth minute of the game Doctor Strange who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Atlético Mineiro's Fynn John was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Doctor Strange in the 57th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Fynn John prevented the ball from getting in the gole. A collision led to Atlético Mineiro getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Antony Quaresma hit a great ball. Fynn John took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pablo Lampard, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Atlético Mineiro defense, Doctor Strange kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Fynn John. The Atlético Mineiro fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Fynn John should have stopped the shot. 79 minutes had been played when some careless play by Atlético Mineiro's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Dong Yang Bang was slow to take the kick. During this time Sport Clube Recife's players had a chance to rest. When Sport Clube Recife's Doctor Strange in the 86th minute got a chance for a shot 86th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie.
