Inter Gala's Eduardo Baiano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Doctor Strange in the 9th minute of play. Sport Clube Recife were awarded a corner in the 13th minute after Inter Gala's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Dong Yang Bang took the corner. Eduardo Baiano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gualter Penha in the 14th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Richard Mendonça in the 16th minute of play forced Sport Clube Recife's goalkeeper Percy Fernandez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Percy Fernandez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jaime Rodrigues in the 18th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Pablo Lampard got free with Eduardo Baiano in the 19th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Eduardo Baiano made a fantastic save in the 22nd minute, when Doctor Strange sent off a good shot on target. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Doctor Strange in the 23rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Eduardo Baiano prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Percy Fernandez stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jaime Rodrigues's shot from short distance in the 25th minute. After some careless play in the Sport Clube Recife defense, Jaime Rodrigues kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Percy Fernandez. The Sport Clube Recife fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Percy Fernandez should have stopped the shot. Gualter Penha was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 36th minute. Sport Clube Recife's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Doctor Strange could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 40th minute of the match, but Eduardo Baiano made a huge save. Percy Fernandez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jaime Rodrigues in the 41st minute of play. Gualter Penha sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Sandrinho Fontes charged in rather forcefully in the 46th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Sandrinho Fontes the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 46th match minute, Inter Gala was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sandrinho Fontes to maneuver through the defense. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Doctor Strange in the 48th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Eduardo Baiano saved Inter Gala from getting behind.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Doctor Strange stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Eduardo Baiano stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Doctor Strange's shot from short distance in the 54th minute. If Dong Yang Bang had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 62nd minute, Gualter Penha hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Inter Gala getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Heinz Stalder hit a great ball. Heinz Stalder scored 1-2 in the 65th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Percy Fernandez, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Inter Gala's Eduardo Baiano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gualter Penha in the 69th minute of play. Eduardo Baiano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gualter Penha, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Inter Gala's Richard Mendonça in the 71st minute got a chance for a shot 71st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Sport Clube Recife's Dong Yang Bang couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 99th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Inter Gala.
