In the 18th minute of the match, Sidnei Baptista got a very nice opportunity to score, but Aaron Smallwood was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tyron Velasquez in the 25th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ahmad Reza Asadi prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Santos Campineiro's Sidnei Baptista got a good chance for a goal in the 28th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Sidnei Baptista's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Aaron Smallwood read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 31st minute of play. A collision led to Santos Campineiro getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Geronimo Raebert hit a great ball. In the 34th minute, Warren Ruiz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Lanny Gilmore might have been able to make a better finish in the 37th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ahmad Reza Asadi. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Lanny Gilmore ran back to his position shaking his head. Lanny Gilmore blasted a shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ahmad Reza Asadi having to make a save. Ahmad Reza Asadi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lanny Gilmore, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. Ahmad Reza Asadi came out of the goal in the 44th minute to try and stop a shot by Santos FC's Lanny Gilmore. But to his dismay, Lanny Gilmore quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. In the 47th minute Lanny Gilmore shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ahmad Reza Asadi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 50 minutes Santos Campineiro's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Warren Ruiz who took care of the corner kick. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Lanny Gilmore stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 57th match minute, Santos Campineiro was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Geronimo Raebert to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lanny Gilmore in the 58th minute of play forced Santos Campineiro's goalkeeper Ahmad Reza Asadi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With an all-out effort, Santos FC's Ahmad Reza Asadi threw himself towards the right post 59 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Lanny Gilmore, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Ahmad Reza Asadi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lanny Gilmore in the 62nd minute of play. Aaron Smallwood showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Anibal Enekoitz in the 65th minute of the match. Ahmad Reza Asadi stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Lanny Gilmore's shot from short distance in the 67th minute. In the 69th minute Sidney Albuquerque shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aaron Smallwood saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Antony Sharkin's late challenge caught a Santos FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Antony Sharkin helped the player get up and apologised. Antony Sharkin hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. Lanny Gilmore might have been able to make a better finish in the 76th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ahmad Reza Asadi. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Lanny Gilmore ran back to his position shaking his head. Lanny Gilmore sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Through an outstanding action, after 78 minutes, Ahmad Reza Asadi successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. After 84 played minutes Santos FC got a freekick which was hit by Tyron Velasquez. Geronimo Raebert made in the 86th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Santos FC's Terence Nicholas. Ahmad Reza Asadi made a fantastic save in the 90th minute, when Tyron Velasquez sent off a good shot on target. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Anibal Enekoitz in the 92nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Anibal Enekoitz in the 97th minute of play forced Santos FC's goalkeeper Aaron Smallwood to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jonathan Orlandus scored 1-1 in the 100th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Aaron Smallwood, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The Santos FC players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Santos Campineiro from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
