Walmyr Salles could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 5th minute of the match, but Olov Linquist made a huge save. In the 6th minute Valdir Martins shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Olov Linquist saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Olov Linquist showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Almir Matos in the 8th minute of the match. Olov Linquist made an important save on a dangerous shot by Juan Arantes in the 9th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Walmyr Salles got free with Olov Linquist in the 10th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Dario Alegría took the ball and in the 15 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Olov Linquist. Olov Linquist dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Almir Matos in the 19th minute of play forced AIF's goalkeeper Olov Linquist to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 21 minutes into the match, AIF's goal looked a bit too open when Dario Alegría came free, but Olov Linquist reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After taking down the ball on AVAÍ F.C.'s corner Almir Matos fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Olov Linquist quite easily take care of the ball. Olov Linquist took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Almir Matos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. AVAÍ F.C.'s attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Valdir Martins in the 28th minute. AVAÍ F.C.'s Valdir Martins was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Olov Linquist in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. 29 minutes into the match, AIF's goal looked a bit too open when Almir Matos came free, but Olov Linquist reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 30th minute, Walmyr Salles reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Olov Linquist. The goal made the score 2-0. A collision led to AVAÍ F.C. getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Walmyr Salles hit a great ball. Jailson Teles made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kenneth Frisk in the 35th minute of play. In the 45th match minute, AVAÍ F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Innocenzio Corales to maneuver through the defense. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-0 at half-time.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Kenneth Frisk to make the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in AVAÍ F.C.'s zone, Kenneth Frisk stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jailson Teles came out of the goal and Kenneth Frisk tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 55 minutes into the match, AIF's goal looked a bit too open when Dario Alegría came free, but Olov Linquist reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 57th minute, Jim Frykberg got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 59 minutes into the match, Almir Matos had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Olov Linquist. AIF's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Almir Matos was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-0. 62 minutes into the match, AIF's goal looked a bit too open when Juan Arantes came free, but Olov Linquist reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Olov Linquist showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Juan Arantes in the 66th minute of the match. After some careless play in the AIF defense, Juan Arantes kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Olov Linquist. The AIF fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Olov Linquist should have stopped the shot. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Walmyr Salles in the 71st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Olov Linquist prevented the ball from getting in the gole. AIF's Olov Linquist played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Walmyr Salles in the 74th minute of play. In the 74th minute Walmyr Salles shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Olov Linquist saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. AIF's Olov Linquist played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dario Alegría in the 79th minute of play. AIF's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Elias Figueroa ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner first didn't look so dangerous but when Juan Arantes got the ball he succeeded in some way to get through the defenders to deliver a very hard score. Result 7-0. 91 minutes into the match. In the 93rd match minute, AVAÍ F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Juan Arantes to maneuver through the defense. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. AVAÍ F.C. fully deserved thier win.
