After 3 played minutes, U21 Hungary's Dominik Szoboszlai shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Stojmen Tujković came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in U21 Hungary reached it. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Csaba Tisza in the 9th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Stojmen Tujković saved U21 Serbia from getting behind. In the 14th minute, Csaba Tisza hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 15 minutes into the match, U21 Hungary's goal looked a bit too open when Dragomir Breković came free, but Géza Vlaszák reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 18th minute the ball was on its way in behind U21 Serbia's goalkeeper Stojmen Tujković, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. U21 Serbia's Stojmen Tujković played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Csaba Tisza in the 19th minute of play. With an all-out effort, U21 Hungary's Stojmen Tujković threw himself towards the right post 25 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from István Antal, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 25th minute, István Antal ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Stojmen Tujković was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. U21 Hungary's Dominik Szoboszlai shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 40th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Stojmen Tujković but with some difficulty.

The wind increased when Junior Shevchenko made the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mihály Varga in the 56th minute of play forced U21 Serbia's goalkeeper Stojmen Tujković to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mihály Varga's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Stojmen Tujković read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 65th minute of play. U21 Serbia's Ratibor Paunović was substituted for Dragomir Breković. After taking down the ball on U21 Hungary's corner Attila Keresztesi fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Stojmen Tujković quite easily take care of the ball. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Attila Keresztesi couldn't finish the play. In the 94th minute, U21 Serbia's Velimir Babović dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 4-1. U21 Hungary's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
