The ball went over the crossbar instead. 10 minutes into the match, U21 Hungary's goal looked a bit too open when Frai Shehu came free, but András Jánosi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Alesandro Nesta hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. In the 18th match minute, U21 Hungary was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ákos Kovács to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Frai Shehu in the 20th minute of play forced U21 Hungary's goalkeeper András Jánosi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 22nd minute Dorian Stoli shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but András Jánosi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mihály Varga in the 33rd minute of play forced U21 Albania's goalkeeper Gjon Dhami to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. András Jánosi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Frai Shehu, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. In the 36th minute of the match U21 Albania got a corner. U21 Hungary's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Ernest Amiti ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led U21 Albania's Kristi Abeshi to fire away a dangerous shot which András Jánosi despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Gjon Dhami took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mihály Varga, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 42nd minute Mihály Varga shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gjon Dhami saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 45 minutes into the match, U21 Albania's goalkeeper Gjon Dhami had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mihály Varga. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Frai Shehu was the one to do the kick off. 54 minutes into the match, Mihály Varga had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Gjon Dhami. U21 Albania's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Mihály Varga was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. András Jánosi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Frai Shehu in the 60th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ábel Zarka in the 63rd minute of play forced U21 Albania's goalkeeper Gjon Dhami to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mihály Varga struck a weak shot in the 67th minute. Gjon Dhami didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for U21 Hungary. Gjon Dhami showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Attila Keresztesi in the 73rd minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Attila Keresztesi in the 78th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gjon Dhami saved U21 Albania from getting behind. In the 79th minute, Ábel Zarka hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Flori Hasa kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. After 85 minutes U21 Albania's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Dominik Szoboszlai who took care of the corner kick. Zoltán Kocsis kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. 93 minutes into the match, Attila Keresztesi notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of U21 Albania's Gjon Dhami. Gjon Dhami was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When Ádám Vass fell near the penalty area in the 95th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored U21 Hungary's protests and gave Ádám Vass a yellow card for diving instead. In the 96th match minute, U21 Hungary was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ádám Vass to maneuver through the defense. U21 Albania's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
