Petr Čech showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Raúl Corpeño in the 10th minute of the match. Petr Čech showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ricardo Viscarra, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. In the 16th minute, Allan Þrándsson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 19 minutes into the game, Kristinn Ingimundarson cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Eraldo Guzman was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. With an all-out effort, Iceland's Eraldo Guzman threw himself towards the right post 22 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Kormákur Baldursson, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. An unexpectedly hard shot by Allan Þrándsson in the 24th minute of play forced Honduras's goalkeeper Eraldo Guzman to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Petr Čech showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Raúl Corpeño, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. In the 26th minute, Allan Þrándsson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Petr Čech made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Raúl Corpeño in the 29th minute of play. Eraldo Guzman took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kristinn Ingimundarson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 37th minute, Kristinn Ingimundarson ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Eraldo Guzman was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. Petr Čech showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ricardo Viscarra in the 41st minute of the match. Honduras's Eraldo Guzman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kristinn Ingimundarson in the 44th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Selvin Rosales in the 45th minute of play forced Iceland's goalkeeper Petr Čech to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Iceland's Austmar Hjaltason was substituted for Allan Þrándsson. Petr Čech took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Raúl Corpeño, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Petr Čech stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Raúl Corpeño's shot from short distance in the 55th minute. 60 minutes into the match, Honduras's goal looked a bit too open when Krummi Þengilsson came free, but Eraldo Guzman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice moves Misael Sigaran could shoot a difficult shot in the 64th minute, which Petr Čech however easily saved by the left post. The throw-in from Will Villanueva in the 66th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Iceland's Krummi Þengilsson. Iceland's defense didn't have a chance, in the 67th minute, when Raúl Corpeño scored to the left of an out of position Petr Čech, making the score, 3-1. After a defensive mix-up in Iceland's zone, Ricardo Viscarra stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Petr Čech came out of the goal and Ricardo Viscarra tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Petr Čech made a fantastic save in the 77th minute, when Selvin Rosales sent off a good shot on target. 78 minutes into the match, Ricardo Viscarra dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Petr Čech, 3-2. In the 84th minute, Will Villanueva hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Petr Čech made a fantastic save in the 89th minute, when Selvin Rosales sent off a good shot on target. Iceland's Krummi Þengilsson managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Will Villanueva in the 92 minute of the game. After taking down the ball on Honduras's corner Eliseo Bentos fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Petr Čech quite easily take care of the ball. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Iceland fans cheered their team off the field, for while Honduras had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
