The audience was convinced that Wolf-Rüdiger Bügen's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Mehmet Ertas Wigger was relentless in the 11th minute of the game. The supporters of FC Hamburg booed when Hertha 1969 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Calvin Strohmayer didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 14 minutes of play, Hertha 1969's Pascal Prinzing made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Mehmet Ertas Wigger was left in no man's land by his defense there! A collision led to FC Hamburg getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Harro Ceylan hit a great ball. Mehmet Ertas Wigger came out of the goal in the 22nd minute to try and stop a shot by Hertha 1969's Wolf-Rüdiger Bügen. But to his dismay, Wolf-Rüdiger Bügen quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4. In the 26th minute Pascal Prinzing shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mehmet Ertas Wigger saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Wolf-Rüdiger Bügen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pascal Prinzing in the 37th minute of play forced FC Hamburg's goalkeeper Mehmet Ertas Wigger to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mehmet Ertas Wigger made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pascal Prinzing in the 38th minute of play. 39 minutes into the game, Manfred Jacobs was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC Hamburg's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Hertha 1969 the free kick. In the 40th minute Pascal Prinzing shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mehmet Ertas Wigger saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 42nd minute, Pascal Prinzing left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Hertha 1969 fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-5. Mehmet Ertas Wigger dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-6. Mehmet Ertas Wigger showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wolf-Rüdiger Bügen in the 48th minute of the match. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-6 lead.

Calvin Strohmayer took the ball and in the 51 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Mehmet Ertas Wigger. Mehmet Ertas Wigger dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-7. 54 minutes into the match, Pascal Prinzing dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Mehmet Ertas Wigger, 0-8. The crowd rose to their feet as Hertha 1969's Pascal Prinzing slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Mehmet Ertas Wigger. That made the score 0-9 after 57 minutes of play. The supporters of FC Hamburg booed when Hertha 1969 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Simon Stiehl didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hertha 1969's Axel Schwarz was substituted for Rainer Appolt. A collision led to Hertha 1969 getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Simon Stiehl hit a great ball. Mehmet Ertas Wigger was a little too slow when Pascal Prinzing got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 66th minute. The score was now 0-10. Mehmet Ertas Wigger showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hendrik Behloch in the 78th minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Hertha 1969's Pascal Prinzing slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Mehmet Ertas Wigger. That made the score 0-12 after 80 minutes of play. Mehmet Ertas Wigger made an important save on a dangerous shot by Hendrik Behloch in the 86th minute. Moritz Trehkopf made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ralph Breddermann in the 87th minute of play. In the 89th minute, Hertha 1969's Pascal Prinzing dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-13. In the 92nd minute, Hendrik Behloch ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Mehmet Ertas Wigger was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-14. Wilfried Biehle blasted a shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Mehmet Ertas Wigger having to make a save. Hertha 1969's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
