NEWELL´S OLD BOYS's Zuri Megia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carmelo Uhin in the 5th minute of play. 15 minutes into the match, Benito Thomas had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Zuri Megia. NEWELL´S OLD BOYS's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Benito Thomas was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. In the 24th minute, Antonio Mundo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gabriel Toli in the 26th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ivan Castel saved Guiñazú FC from getting behind. Carmelo Uhin took the ball and in the 27 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Zuri Megia. Zuri Megia dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gabriel Toli in the 36th minute of play forced Guiñazú FC's goalkeeper Ivan Castel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. NEWELL´S OLD BOYS were awarded a corner in the 38th minute after Guiñazú FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Gabriel Toli took the corner. The corner led NEWELL´S OLD BOYS's Gabriel Toli to fire away a dangerous shot which Ivan Castel despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Reynaldo Sabin could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 39th minute of the match, but Ivan Castel made a huge save. After 42 minutes, Gabriel Toli made it 1-2 with a short kick to the right side. Guiñazú FC's Ivan Castel tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Victorino Bortzaioriz thought of kicking away a contribution in front of goal but messed it up so badly that the ball went to the right of an astonished Ivan Castel, a very annoying self made goal in the 53rd minute which led to 2-2. Zuri Megia made a fantastic save in the 61st minute, when Benito Thomas sent off a good shot on target. After some careless play in the NEWELL´S OLD BOYS defense, Carmelo Uhin kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Zuri Megia. The NEWELL´S OLD BOYS fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Zuri Megia should have stopped the shot. Baltasar Rios hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. NEWELL´S OLD BOYS's Zuri Megia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Santo Heli in the 73rd minute of play. 76 minutes into the match, Guiñazú FC's goal looked a bit too open when Reynaldo Sabin came free, but Ivan Castel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Reynaldo Sabin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Ivan Castel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 80th minute Reynaldo Sabin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ivan Castel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Benito Thomas hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. Baltasar Rios's late challenge caught a Guiñazú FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Baltasar Rios helped the player get up and apologised. Baltasar Rios kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Lucio Frasquito during the 84th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 84th minute, Lucio Frasquito hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 94th match minute, NEWELL´S OLD BOYS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Baltasar Rios to maneuver through the defense. Guiñazú FC's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
