In the 4th minute Severiano Adrio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcos Esdras saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jacobo Iruinea in the 5th minute of play forced Palermo's goalkeeper Marcos Esdras to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Forest Green's zone, Rafael Hondo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Domingos Dolcet came out of the goal and Rafael Hondo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Patryk Wiater kicked well hit freekick during the 10th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 15th minute, Patryk Wiater managed to get in a good position for a shot. Palermo's supporters rose to their feet, but Patryk Wiater was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Domingos Dolcet breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 17 minutes into the match, Palermo's goal looked a bit too open when Jacobo Iruinea came free, but Marcos Esdras reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Patryk Wiater sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A hard shot 24 in the game by Patryk Wiater from a close distance when the talented Domingos Dolcet managed to make a qualified save. Forest Green's players were relieved. An unexpectedly hard shot by Patryk Wiater in the 26th minute of play forced Forest Green's goalkeeper Domingos Dolcet to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Rafael Hondo came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the Palermo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rafael Hondo couldn't finish the play. Patryk Wiater received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Domingos Dolcet tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 36 minutes into the match, Palermo's goal looked a bit too open when Jacobo Iruinea came free, but Marcos Esdras reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jacobo Iruinea made a kick off. A collision led to Palermo getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Jacinto Mino hit a great ball. After having played for 59 minutes, Uriel Georgiev managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Palermo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Uriel Georgiev was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Severiano Adrio kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. 63 minutes into the match, Forest Green's goal looked a bit too open when Rafael Hondo came free, but Domingos Dolcet reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Marcos Esdras made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Severiano Adrio in the 66th minute of play. Marcos Esdras took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Florentino Piarres, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Palermo's Marcos Esdras played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jacobo Iruinea in the 68th minute of play. Domingos Dolcet made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Patryk Wiater in the 70th minute of play. In the 73rd minute, Severiano Adrio got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Palermo's Marcos Esdras proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 78th minute of the match, managed to save Palermo from getting a goal against them. After a rather tough play, Forest Green's Fabio Totakoxe got a free kick in the 79th minute. Domingos Dolcet didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jacinto Mino went, in the 80th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. 84 minutes into the game, Forest Green's Severiano Adrio nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Marcos Esdras made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. If Jacinto Mino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Severiano Adrio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Marcos Esdras tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 93 minutes of play, Palermo's Jacinto Mino made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Domingos Dolcet was left in no man's land by his defense there! Forest Green's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
