Jude Carey-Bertram took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Schmidt, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 9 minutes into the match, Lanús's Daniel Schmidt sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jude Carey-Bertram narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 15 minutes into the match, Lanús's goalkeeper Baldomero Suarez had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Carlos Urtungo. Laureano Pelayo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlos Urtungo in the 20th minute of play forced Lanús's goalkeeper Baldomero Suarez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Laureano Pelayo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Leonel Ugutz fell near the penalty area in the 23rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Unión y Progreso Tandil's protests and gave Leonel Ugutz a yellow card for diving instead. Leonel Ugutz kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. Jude Carey-Bertram took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Laureano Pelayo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jude Carey-Bertram made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Schmidt in the 36th minute of play. Unión y Progreso Tandil's Carlos Urtungo got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Daniel Schmidt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jude Carey-Bertram having to interfere. After 46 minutes, Alvaro Regis mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Lanús and the Unión y Progreso Tandil players grew even worse after the yellow card. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Carlos Urtungo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Baldomero Suarez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 60 minutes, Daniel Schmidt managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lanús's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Schmidt was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Lanús booed when Unión y Progreso Tandil was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Candido Frasco didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Emiliano Honrio came up free with the goalie in the 71st minute, the Unión y Progreso Tandil fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Emiliano Honrio couldn't finish the play. Emiliano Honrio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 76 minutes into the match, Unión y Progreso Tandil's goal looked a bit too open when Laureano Pelayo came free, but Jude Carey-Bertram reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Unión y Progreso Tandil getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. Carlos Urtungo hit a great ball. 88 minutes into the match, Lanús's goal looked a bit too open when Carlos Urtungo came free, but Baldomero Suarez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Baldomero Suarez came out of the goal in the 94th minute to try and stop a shot by Unión y Progreso Tandil's Emiliano Honrio. But to his dismay, Emiliano Honrio quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
