Valencia C.F.'s Santiago Cañizares proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 6th minute of the match, managed to save Valencia C.F. from getting a goal against them. The FC Lëtzebuerg fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that David Bismarck should have stopped the shot. After a rather tough play, FC Lëtzebuerg's Dudin Suartama got a free kick in the 20th minute. Al Capone made a great header on Valencia C.F.'s corner, it was just that FC Lëtzebuerg's David Bismarck managed to reach the ball for a save. FC Lëtzebuerg's Cirilo Izotz got a good chance for a goal in the 31st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some careless play in the Valencia C.F. defense, Cirilo Izotz kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Santiago Cañizares. The Valencia C.F. fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Santiago Cañizares should have stopped the shot. Santiago Cañizares took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rafael Barreiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd rose to their feet as Cirilo Izotz kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Santiago Cañizares. That made the score 2-2 in the 42 minute of play. After 45 played minutes FC Lëtzebuerg got a freekick which was hit by Tim Tudor. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Al Capone hit a great ball. When FC Lëtzebuerg's Serdar Gulson in the 93rd minute got a chance for a shot 93rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Valencia C.F.'s goalie prevented a goal. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
