Evandro Gonçalves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 11 minutes into the match, Natingui FC's goalkeeper Alisson Taffarel had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Evandro Gonçalves. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eliseu Guerra in the 13th minute of play forced Vascogoianiense FC's goalkeeper Agnaldo Tinoco to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alisson Taffarel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carlos Eduardo Sergipano, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Róbson Bastos during the 24th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Vascogoianiense FC's Dede Barros shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 25th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Alisson Taffarel but with some difficulty. With a little luck, Natingui FC's Alisson Taffarel got control of the ball when Evandro Gonçalves tried to sneak it across the goal line. The Vascogoianiense FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Natingui FC were winning 1-2.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Evandro Gonçalves made a kick off. When Carlos Eduardo Sergipano came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the Vascogoianiense FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Carlos Eduardo Sergipano couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in Natingui FC's zone, Evandro Gonçalves stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alisson Taffarel came out of the goal and Evandro Gonçalves tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 59th minute Evandro Gonçalves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alisson Taffarel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alisson Taffarel stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Evandro Gonçalves's shot from short distance in the 61st minute. Alisson Taffarel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carlos Eduardo Sergipano in the 64th minute of play. Alisson Taffarel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Evandro Gonçalves, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. The supporters of Vascogoianiense FC booed when Natingui FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Donato Lopes didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 84th minute Evandro Gonçalves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alisson Taffarel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Vascogoianiense FC's Evandro Gonçalves in the 87th minute got a chance for a shot 87th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. For all the effort they put into the match, the Natingui FC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Vascogoianiense FC.
